2006-01-26 - Kuranda
The day trip to the rain forest town of Kuranda started with a bus coach transfer to the sky rail cable car. The Skyrail, completed in 1995, travels 4.7 miles over the rain forest with one intermediate station where passengers transfer between gondolas to continue. The 4.7 mile ride takes approximately 30 minutes.
The RainForeStation Nature Park at Kuranda has much the same animal life exhibits as at the Cairns Wildlife Park, but also has a WW II Army Duck tour through the rain forest, and a demonstrations of songs, dances, boomerang and spear throwing by Aboriginal dancers/actors.
The return trip to Cairns was on the scenic 20th century vintage railroad train.
